We run research and development projects on technological innovation. Our main line of research addresses one specific problem in the audiovisual sector: integrating 3D graphics into real productions, live, with no post-production.

Research into integrating 3D graphics into real-time audiovisual production

The overall aim of the project is to research a combination of equipment and software that allows 3D graphics to be brought into real-time audiovisual production quickly and easily.

Specific objectives

  • Assessing how current systems perform, and analysing the available information on tracking systems, CGI element insertion and the blending of virtual and real imagery.
  • Answering the audiovisual sector’s real needs so they can be built into the software: cross-checking data and items of interest, image capture, applying the physical camera to the virtual camera in real time, and a system for capturing interaction so that the physical user can alter or act on the virtual environments.
  • Gathering and analysing results, data and test runs in order to evaluate them and identify improvements in the use of this technology, including assessing applications in other fields and sectors.
  • Testing and evaluating real-time mixed-image software, with interaction and camera tracking, that blends the two images obtained by the virtual and physical cameras as it happens.

An innovation and talent programme: research into the different uses of virtual and augmented reality as a marketing tool, drawing on sensory marketing techniques and gamification.

Multisensory stimulation room

The project builds a virtual reality room where children with cognitive diversity receive sensory stimuli of different shapes and colours and carry out exercises and tasks to improve their psychomotor skills and reinforce what they have learned.
